~Beer Bread~

Today I made an easy delicious Beer Bread to have with dinner as I was making Honey Grilled Shrimp too and wanted a fancier Sunday dinner.  This only required the bread mix and beer so I had all the ingredients.

What you need:  Beer Bread mix, 12 oz can of beer or clear carbonated soda.  I used a 12 oz bottle of beer instead and it worked just fine!

Instructions: Mix contents of package with 1 can (I used a bottle) of beer.

Here it us all mixed up.

Pour into greased9 x 5 loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes.

Here it is fresh out of the oven.

It was so good, we had to try a couple of slices it smelled too good to wait for dinner. Get some today!

~ Chai Tea Blend ~

Back in April at the garage sale for the animal shelter I picked up a really nice cast iron tea pot.  A special kind that you put the tea leaves right in the top filter area and let steep and then pour!

It was a great opportunity to try one of our excellent tea blends.  So I made this back in May. Way too hot for me to think about hot tea just now although I suppose I could make some hot tea and then put it in the fridge for cold Chai Tea. :)

Ingredients: Hot water and the Chai Tea Blend mix

Directions: Scoop 2 heaping tsps of Chai Tea Blend into one cup of boiling water.

Let stand for about five minutes.

Strain the tea and then add hot milk and sweeten as desired. I made mine too strong the first time and forgot to add the milk so it was very strong!  But the second time I made it I used 1 teaspoon and it was plenty!  Deep rich flavor!

~ Fruit Crisp ~

I made this dessert a few weeks ago.

Here is what is needed: Fruit Crisp Gourmet Cupboard Mix, water, 21 oz can of your choice of fruit (apples, peaches, cherry pie filling, etc).

Instructions: Empty contents of bag into a bowl. Add 1/2 cup of melted margarine.

Mix until well blended

Drain a 21 oz can of your choice of fruit. I used 2 cans of 'lite' peaches as that is what hubby bought at the store. I think I would have liked the regular peaches in heavy syrup better.  Place in greased 8 x 8 pan.

Spread topping mixture evenly over fruit. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes.

I have to say this smelled wonderful baking in the oven.  The outcome? Well the peaches didn't blend with the topping very well so I didn't care for it very much. And I do not like coconut and although I tried to take most of the shredded coconut out of the mixture before I made it, I could still taste it. (See I don't always rave about everything :-) ).  I would have it again if it did not have coconut but would use something like cherry pie filling instead to give it more of a thicker fruit base to go under the baked topping.

If you'd like to try it with your own choice of favorite fruit, please do so!

~Country Cream Gravy Mix ~

We made this for dinner Thursday with sausage. Yum!

Ingredients: County Cream Gravy Mix and Water. That's it!

You don't have to mix this with anything but we added a pound of cooked sausage to the gravy for biscuits and gravy. This is a picture of the sausage with the added water (see below).

Directions: Mix gravy and 1/4 water. Stir until well blended.

Place 3/4 water in pan on stove. Heat until boiling. As I said I made with sausage (see photo above with 3/4 cup water & sausage). Once water is boiling add gravy that you mixed with 1/4 cup water.

We put biscuits (Bisquick Grands) in the oven until ready

Split the biscuits open and the ladled the creamy gravy (with sausage over top). This is one of my hubby's favorites!
You could use this gravy for many uses, not just with sausage!

Etoufee (with photos this time)

Last night I made Etoufee and although I posted this a while back I did not have the photos as my husband deleted them by accident.  So before that could happen again, I got all the photos on my blog! :)

This Etoufee dish can be made with shrimp, crawfish or ground sausage.  I like to make it with shrimp as I never see crawfish available at the store anyway and I don't really care for ground sausage.

Ingredient:  Package of Etoufee (on my website in the Cajun category), 1 lb of your choice of meat (mentioned above), 1/2 cup margarine, 1 chopped celery stalk, water and 8 oz can tomato sauce.  When I went to get the tomato sauce we had none but we did have a jar of Salsa and it worked out splendidly!

Directions: Cook 1 lb of your choice of meat, in a large pot with 1/2 cup margarine and 1 chopped celery stalk  You will see the celery stalk missing here and that is because my husband does not like it. Otherwise it definitely would be in there!

Add the mix , 1 1/2 cups water and 1 (8oz) can tomato sauce (in my case I added 1/2 jar of the Salsa)
Cool on low for 20 minutes.  (meantime I cooked some long grain and wild rice to serve it with.

Serve over rice.  Here is the finished plate!  Just delicious!

You can get this and many other wonderful dishes here!

~ 5 Minute Microwavable Chocolate Fudge ~

This is a quick fix for a great treat!  Who doesn't like Fudge?! And in just 5 minutes!!

While I was out my hubby straightened out my desk so I don't know if I discarded the instructions or he did, so please when you purchase this, use the instructions attached. I am using the instructions for the Peanut Butter Fudge that I have on hand.  What you need: Package of 5 minute microwavable fudge, butter or margarine, milk.

Directions: Pour contents of bag into microwave safe dish and make hole in middle of mixture.

Put 3 Tbsp of milk and 6 Tbsp butter or margarine cut into a few pieces (I used butter). Do NOT STIR!

Microwave on high for 2 minutes. If it is runny, microwave 1-2 more minutes (it is okay for the butter to be a little runny as you have not stirred it yet). I microwaved mine for 2 min, 30 seconds.

I forgot that after microwave, you add some vanilla (sorry it was not in the ingredients photo). I think it was 1 tsp but not positive as the peanut butter fudge does not call for any vanilla.  STIR Vigorously.

Pour into 9 x 9 pan, cool and enjoy!  I just let it cool at room temperature. Optional - Sift dry ingredients before using.

This fudge never LASTS long when I make it.

~ Pasta Salad with Wheat Noodles ~

Here is another quick, easy to make dish that we served when our friends came over that evening a few weeks ago.

Here is what is needed Pasta Salad with Wheat Noodles package, water, and mayonnaise

Directions: Bring 5 cups of water to a boil. Pour noodle mix into boiling/water and continue to boil for 9 minutes.

Meanwhile, mix 1/3 cup of mayonnaise with the seasoning mix.

Drain noodles, and then stir noodles and the mayonnaise mixture together. Enjoy warm or chilled. I chilled this dish in the refrigerator for a few hours before serving, but did taste it when it warm and it is great either way!
